Perinić Collection

The Perinić Collection, a collection of souvenir dolls from various countries around the world, is a donation from the collector Ljeposlav Perinić to the City of Zagreb. By decision of the City Assembly in 1992, the Collection was entrusted to the Ethnographic Museum for management and permanent storing. In the context of the unique method of formation, the Perinić Collection presents an interesting collection of dolls. To Ljeposlav Perinić's written request addressed to the statesmen of various countries around the world, many responded with a letter and a souvenir doll - a recognizable representative of a country, region, or culture of a certain social community.  The Collection includes 351 dolls and 346 letters from various statesmen and prominent individuals. The evaluation of the Perinić Collection emphasizes the integrity of its contents consisting of dolls and correspondence, as well as the social and political status of the donor. The collection was systematically replenished until the death of Ljeposlav Perinić (2005) with donations from Croatian political officials (presidents of state and government, county prefects) and private donations from around the world. Today, the Perinić Collection is a closed. The Collection will be presented to the public in the future through occasional exhibitions, mostly of a selected thematic approach.
